We collaborate with Gediminas Juzeliūnas (Vilnius university), Teodora Kirova (University of Latvia), I-Kang Liu (Newcastle university), and Yu-Ju Lin (IAMS) to investigate the generation and dynamical control of spatial modes for neutral dark-state polaritons (DSPs) using electromagnetically induced transparency. We demonstrated how a combination of synthetic scalar and vector potentials can be used to engineer discrete spatial modes of dark-state polaritons, enabling coherent quantum interference between them. We verified this approach by showing Rabi oscillations between two spatial modes and stimulated Raman adiabatic passage among three Λ-type modes. This method enables the spatial reallocation of stored photonic information, offering potential applications in photonic memory optimization and light retrieval modulation within electromagnetically induced transparency systems.
